Covid-19 kills 246 in Portugal. There are 9,886 infected

The number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Portugal had risen to 9,886 while 37 more patients have died from the virus.

The Directorate General for Health (DGS) identified 852 new cases of coronavirus in Portugal, bringing the number of people infected with the disease to 9,886. The data collected up to midnight also reveal that 37 more patients have died from the virus, a total of 246 since the outbreak was detected in the country.

According to the health bulletin, referring to the last 24 hours, there are 1,058 cases in hospital, 245 of which in intensive care. The number of cases recovered remains the same, 68.

The North continues to be the most affected region in the country, with 5,899 cases and 130 deaths, followed by Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, with 2,347 cases and 51 deaths, and the Centro, with 1,286 cases and 61 deaths. There are also 179 cases and three deaths in the Algarve, and 62 cases and one death in the Alentejo, according to the epidemiological bulletin.
