Covid-19 kills 209, more than 9,000 extra infections

By midnight, the number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Portugal had risen to 9,034, while the number of coronavirus deaths had risen to 209.

Portugal on Thursday registered 209 deaths associated with Covid-19, 22 more than on Wednesday and 9,034 people were infected (783 more), according to the General Directorate for Health.

According to the epidemiological bulletin, the North continues to be the most affected region in the country, with 5,3038 cases and 107 deaths, followed by Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, with 2,207 cases and 44 deaths, and the Centro, with 1,161 cases and 55 deaths. At last, Algarve has 163 cases and three deaths.

There are also 4,958 cases awaiting laboratory results and 21,798 people under surveillance by the authorities.
