Consumer credit granted in 2018 rose 10% to €7.354 bn

The central bank released this Friday the values of consumer credit granted in 2018, which increased by 10%, up to €7.35 billion last year. Car loans rose to €3.12 billion.

The total amount of consumer credit granted in 2018 in Portugal rose 10% compared to the previous year to €7.35 billion, according to figures released on Friday by the Bank of Portugal.

The central bank’s latest figures on new consumer credit reveal that new car loans rose to €3.12 billion last year, corresponding to over 42% of the total consumer credit granted and registered a rise of 12% compared to 2017.

Personal loans amounted to almost €3.16 billion, 11.8% more than the previous year.
