Altice has found a replacement for Paulo Neves. The new CEO of PT Portugal is Claudia Goya, coming from Microsoft. She is taking office effective immediately.
The new name to head PT Portugal has been chosen. Her name is Claudia Goya and she will replace Paulo Neves who, as soon as the purchase of Media Capital by Altice is concluded, will become chairman of Meo’s telecommunications operator and of the media group which owns TVI.
“Altice informed today that Cláudia Goya will take office as CEO of Portugal Telecom, effective immediately. She will be in charge of Altice’s businesses in Portugal“, the group stated in a press release. The document also confirms that Paulo Neves will become “chairman of the group in Portugal and, after the acquisition agreement of Media Capital, will head the regulatory process and will also take on coordination responsibilities for the Portuguese assets owned by the Group”.
"I take on this commitment with a sense of responsibility and with the goal of elevating Portugal Telecom to a worldwide reference in the sector.”
These changes in Altice’s business governance model in Portugal are announced after the acquisition of the media group which holds Portuguese TV channel TVI for 440 million euros, a deal which was closed last Friday. Altice believes this new “governance model will allow “Altice to reinforce its leadership stance in Portugal”.
“The goal is for PT to become a worldwide reference”
Having already taken office in PT, Claudia Goya does not hide the “honor” she feels of “heading a company with such a strong presence in the life of the Portuguese citizens and companies”. She also states: “I take on this commitment with a sense of responsibility and with the goal of elevating Portugal Telecom to a worldwide reference in the sector”, former Galp and Microsoft responsible stated.
Michel Combes, the CEO of the Altice Group, considers Goya is the “right leader to take on this new challenge for Portugal Telecom […] She will reinforce our commitment to the company and to Portugal by innovating and investing in infrastructures and in the digitization, allowing the Portuguese to have the best service experience”.
