EDP Renováveis reported a fourfold rise in profit to September, helped by US performance and asset rotation gains, in a result closely watched by investors.

EDP Renováveis said on Wednesday that net profit for the first nine months of the year rose fourfold to nearly €440 million, a result that matters for investors as it points to stronger earnings from the Portuguese renewable energy group’s international business. The company said the increase from €107 million a year earlier reflected “solid operational performance and higher gains from asset rotation”, despite higher depreciation, uncontrollable cost increases and currency effects.

Recurring EBITDA rose 23% year on year to €1.728 billion, excluding currency effects, while revenue increased 1% to €2.034 billion. Financial results remained negative at €367 million, compared with negative €361 million in the same period a year earlier.

Electricity sales rose 2%, excluding currency effects, to €1.638 billion. Average selling prices fell 2% from the first nine months of 2025 to 52.9 per megawatt-hour, while renewable power generation increased 2% to 30.9 terawatt-hours.

At the end of September, EDPR’s net debt stood at €8.3 billion, up 3% from December 2025. In Wednesday’s stock market session, EDPR shares rose 3.22% to €13.47.
