BY Venture Partners has opened a Lisbon office as its European headquarters and launched a €53.5 million fund focused on early-stage AI companies.

Dubai-based venture capital firm BY Venture Partners has chosen Lisbon for its European headquarters and launched a €53.5 million third fund to back early-stage artificial intelligence companies, a move that adds to Portugal’s appeal as a base for international tech investors.

The new fund will target global early-stage projects and invest in pre-seed to Series A rounds with tickets of up to $1 million, according to the company. BY Venture Partners said it wants to support AI-native businesses that are reshaping corporate workflows and aim to scale internationally.

The firm, which says it has more than €178.4 million in assets under management, described the Lisbon hub as a natural step after investing in 16 countries. Its initial Portugal team, based in Alcântara, includes partner Sohrab Jahanbani and platform and community manager Henrique Pereira, with room to expand, an official source told ECO.

The new vehicle is anchored by the Dubai Future District Fund and includes institutional investors from the Gulf region, venture capital divisions and family offices, including Multi Lane, Transmed Capital and Saudi Arabia’s Indriss Family Office. BY Venture Partners said the fund has already made 15 investments and is expected to build a portfolio of 40 companies.
