Portugal will return to the Formula 1 calendar on June 20, 2027, with Portimão hosting the ninth race of the season after a six-year absence.

Portugal will host the ninth race of the 2027 Formula 1 world championship on June 20, marking the country’s return to the calendar after six years and bringing the series back to Portimão in the Algarve.

The Portuguese Grand Prix will be held at the Algarve International Circuit and will take place between the Monaco race on June 6 and the British Grand Prix on July 4, according to the 2027 calendar announced on Wednesday by the FIA, Formula 1’s governing body.

The 2027 season will again feature 24 races, starting in Bahrain on March 14 and ending in Abu Dhabi on December 12.

Formula 1 had already announced Portugal’s return for the 2027 and 2028 seasons under an agreement with the Portuguese government, Turismo de Portugal and the company managing the Algarve circuit. Portimão last hosted Formula 1 in 2020 and 2021, during the Covid-19 pandemic.
