Cristiano Ronaldo has acquired a significant stake in LiveModeTV, a sports streaming platform set to show Portugal’s 2026 World Cup matches free on YouTube.

Cristiano Ronaldo has acquired a “significant stake” in LiveModeTV, a sports streaming platform launching in Portugal with plans to broadcast all of Portugal’s matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup free on YouTube, according to a company statement.

LiveModeTV said the Portuguese footballer is joining as a strategic partner and shareholder, although it did not disclose the size of the investment or financial terms. The company said the partnership combines Ronaldo’s global digital reach with LiveModeTV’s experience in building sports-focused online communities through creators and influencers.

The platform’s international rollout is due to begin with the free broadcast of the Champions League final on May 30. It will then continue with the 2026 World Cup, when LiveModeTV plans to show 34 matches in Portugal, including every game involving the national team, as well as a daily “Match of the Day” programme on YouTube.

In comments to Bloomberg, Ronaldo said the mission is to make sport available to everyone “in a completely new and inspiring way.” LiveMode partner Thiago Tourinho said Ronaldo’s arrival as an investor and strategic partner was a strong endorsement of the business and its expansion plans in Portugal, elsewhere in Europe and in other international markets.
