Currently, in summer, the airline operates three weekly flights, with departures on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Teresa Gonçalves, chairman of the board of directors of the SATA Group, quoted in the press release, believes that “this extension of airline operations to the entire year pursues several objectives and makes it possible to consolidate Azores Airlines’ presence in a market with enormous potential, while also mitigating the seasonality of the destination”.
The SATA CEO said that Barcelona airport “is the busiest airport in Catalonia and the second largest in Spain”.
“We are very confident in the attractiveness of our route. In summer, demand for this connection by passengers departing from New York or Boston and wishing to reach Europe via the Azores is significant, which allows us to anticipate that we will have demand, in addition to the point-to-point connection,” the manager declares.
