IBM to open another tech centre in Portugal
The company has centres in Tomar, Viseu, Fundão, Portalegre and Vila Real and everything points out that the choice will fall back to the centre of the country.
IBM Portugal will open another technology centre in the country in 2023. It will be the sixth centre that the company inaugurates in Portugal and is expected to operate less than six months after opening the last one in Vila Real, the president of the US subsidiary in Portugal told the Portuguese newspaper Jornal de Negócios.
This unit is expected to create between 150 and 200 jobs, but the chairman of the US subsidiary in Portugal admits these figures may be quickly surpassed. “With the projects, we have as a base, that is what we want to do, but the outlook is for growth. We have projects in the pipeline that may require 100 or 150 resources just for those,” says Ricardo Martinho.
About the new location, the president does not lift the veil yet. The company has centres in Tomar, Viseu, Fundão, Portalegre and Vila Real, and everything points out that the choice will fall back to the centre region.
