Among the favourites to buy the airline are Germany's Lufthansa and the group that brings together Air France and KLM.

The government wants to move forward with TAP’s privatisation this year, to conclude the process in the first months of 2023, Expresso reports this Friday. Among the favourites to buy the airline are Germany’s Lufthansa and the group that brings together Air France and KLM.

IAG, led by British British Airways and Spanish Iberia, even signalled interest but should be discarded as a threat to the Lisbon hub. The government has been holding talks with financial advisers and the candidate companies in recent months with some regularity and discretion.

The main hypothesis would be to privatise at least half of TAP, but some people within the government signal that there may be no resistance to selling a percentage close to 100%, according to the newspaper. The decision has not yet been taken, but the various scenarios are being studied by the Ministry of Infrastructure.
