Inflation rises to 4.2% in February, energy up almost 15%

According to INE, "based on the information, the year-on-year rate of change of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose to 4.2% in February (3.3% in January)."

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Portugal rose to 4.2% in February year-on-year from 3.3% in January, according to a flash estimate published on Monday by Statistics Portugal (INE).

According to the statistics agency, “based on the information, the year-on-year rate of change of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose to 4.2% in February (3.3% in January).

Excluding unprocessed food products and energy, the year-on-year change in the index was 3.2%, compared to 2.4% in the previous month.

INE said that the year-on-year rate of change in the energy products index is 14.9% (12.1% in the previous month), while the unprocessed foodstuffs index is expected to have registered a difference of 3.8%, compared to a change of 3.4% in January.
