Portugal’s unemployment rate remains below EU average

According to Eurostat's estimates, 13.984 million people in the EU, of whom 11.829 million in the Eurozone, were unemployed in November 2021.

The unemployment rate fell again in the Eurozone and the European Union in November, to 7.2% and 6.5%, respectively, according to data published by Eurostat on Monday. Portugal also registered a drop, remaining once again below the EU average: the rate was 6.3%.

According to Eurostat’s estimates, 13.984 million people in the EU, of whom 11.829 million in the Eurozone, were unemployed in November 2021. Compared with October 2021, the number of persons unemployed fell by 247,000 in the EU and by 222,000 in the eurozone.

In Portugal, the unemployment rate decreased from 6.4% in October to 6.3% in November. This month, around 327,000 people were unemployed. The country thus continues to remain below the average recorded in European Union.
