Azores Airlines will connect New York to the Azores from June 4 until October 28 2022, with flights on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays between Ponta Delgada and the US, it announced on Tuesday.
In a statement sent to the media, Azores Airlines, a subsidiary of the SATA Group, said that “the preparation of this regular air connection had been considered more than a year ago, a process that was interrupted by the emergence of Covid-19”.
As for timetables, take-offs from Ponta Delgada, on the island of São Miguel, “are scheduled for 6 pm, with arrival in New York at 19:55 local time,” the company said.
As for the return flights to the Azores, “they leave New York at 9h20 pm and arrive in Ponta Delgada the following day at 6h25 am”.
SATA also said that bookings are available and can be made through the airline (‘online’ or at any point of sale) or through travel agencies.
The Azorean airline said that it “has developed, in partnership with the Azorean operator InovTravel, a direct link between New York and Funchal” in Madeira, “which will extend until March 2022”.
According to SATA, “this investment has been relevant from a commercial point of view, but equally significant from a symbolic point of view, since it has united two Azorean partners (the SATA Group and InovTravel) around another project in the conquest of new markets for extraordinary Atlantic destinations, such as the archipelagos of the Azores and Madeira”.
