Passengers coming from the Portuguese islands (Azores and Madeira) to the mainland are exempt from having to submit negative Covid-19 tests.

Passengers coming from the Azores and Madeira to the Portuguese mainland are exempt from having to submit negative Covid-19 tests to board from Wednesday, clarified a cabinet source to Lusa on Monday.

“A negative test is required for all passengers arriving in mainland Portugal from international flights, not applying, therefore, to flights from the autonomous regions”.

In the case of international flights to the Azores or Madeira, “this is a matter for the two regional governments to decide”.

From Wednesday in Portugal, it will become mandatory to present an EU covid digital certificate to access hotels, restaurants, gymnasiums and events with marked seats, as well as the presentation of a negative test (even for those vaccinated) in visits to care homes and hospitals, sports venues and bars and discos.
