In Portugal, since March 2020, 17,645 people have died and 1,020,546 confirmed cases of infection have been counted, according to data from the DGS.

The incidence rate of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infections in the last 14 days fell again on Monday in mainland Portugal and at the national level, and the transmissibility index (Rt) remained at 0.98.

The joint epidemiological bulletin of the country’s national health authority, the DGS, and the National Institute of Health Doutor Ricardo Jorge released on Monday shows that the incidence rate (average of new cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days) fell from 312.3 to 310.4 at national level.

In mainland Portugal, the incidence rate decreased from 316.6 in the previous report to 314.6.

The Rt – which estimates the number of secondary cases of infection resulting from a person carrying the virus – remains at 0.98 across Portugal.

The Rt data and the incidence of new cases per 100,000 inhabitants at 14 days – indicators that make up the pandemic monitoring risk matrix – are updated by health authorities on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

According to the government portal for Covid-19, the monitoring of the evolution of the pandemic will continue to be based on the indicators of incidence and Rt, now adapted according to the evolution of vaccination (alert level becomes 240, risk level becomes 480).
