BCP director José Vicente has been appointed vice-president of the Euro Banking Association (EBA).

BCP director José Vicente was appointed vice-president of the Euro Banking Association (EBA), a regulatory body dedicated to maintaining financial stability throughout the EU’s banking industry.

The director’s name was put forward by the EBA’s representative members on June 25. José Vicente, specialist director of BCP’s Payment Systems Unit, will serve a three-year term, succeeding Vincent Brennan, manager of the Bank of Ireland, whose mandate ended in June.

In addition to José Vicente, five other members were also appointed to the EBA board: Han Joosten (Rabobank), Claudio Magnaghi (BPM Bank) and Simon McConnell (Citibank Europe) were re-elected, while Sharon Donnelly (Bank of Ireland) and Rocío Jiménez Sánchez (CaixaBank) are new faces.

The EBA aims to promote dialogue and exchange of experiences between professionals in the payments industry with a view to a pan-European vision of payments.
