2,449 new cases and five deaths by Covid-19 in Portugal

The Lisbon and Tagus Valley area has 54.6% of new infections, with 1,339 new cases.

Portugal has 2,449 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infection, a new high since mid-February, five deaths with Covid-19, an increase in admissions and a reduction in intensive care patients.

The number of new daily cases haven’t been this high since 13 February, when 2,856 contagions were recorded​​​​​​​.

The epidemiological bulletin of the country’s national health authority, the DGS, said that 509 people are hospitalised on with Covid-19 ​​​​​​​Thursday, five more than on Wednesday, 113 of which in intensive care units, seven fewer.

The Lisbon and Tagus Valley area has 54.6% of new infections, with 1,339 new cases.

The North recorded an increase in the number of new cases with 566 in the last 24 hours, representing 23.1% of the national total.
