More than 100 Portuguese startups will attend Collision 2021, a Web Summit event that takes place ‘online’ in North America next week, it was disclosed on Thursday.
“Collision, the fastest-growing technology event in North America, will welcome more than 100 ‘startups’ at its kick-off on Tuesday, April 20, Web Summit said in a statement.
The Portuguese startups join more than 40,000 founders, investors, media and stars such as footballer David Beckham and actress Nicole Kidman, from “more than 100 countries”, adds the head of one of the largest technology summits in the world.
These startups “were selected and invited to participate in the event through partnerships” with the city of Lisbon and Startup Portugal.
“Eighty startups will be in Toronto as part of the Road 2 Web Summit programme”, in the course of a long-standing partnership between the Web Summit and Startup Portugal and will have access to investors and business leaders coming from all corners of the world.
In addition, Lisbon will bring 10 startups – from sectors such as digital financial services fintech (Alfred AI) and biotechnology ‘biotech’ (Neroes).
“For the second year in a row, Collision will host attendees in its proprietary software,” says Web Summit.
After registering 32,000 attendees at the first ‘online’ event in June 2020, the platform is now expecting to host 40,000.
