Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa re-elected President of Portugal

Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa is re-elected President of Portugal for a further five years. Ana Gomes in second place ahead of André Ventura.

Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa is re-elected for a second term as President of Portugal. The candidate supported by the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and the People’s Party (CSD) received 60.70% of the votes, which corresponded to 2,533,799 votes, almost as many as the 2,411,925 he obtained in 2016.

In second place came Ana Gomes, a candidate supported by PAN and Livre, with 12.97% of the votes, which corresponds to 541,345 votes.

In third place is André Ventura, the candidate supported by the far-right party Chega, with 11.90% and 496,653 votes. Fourth place goes to João Ferreira, a candidate supported by the Portuguese Communist Party, with 4.32% (180,473). Marisa Matias, with the support of the Left Bloc Party (BE), is in fifth place with 3.95% (164,731 votes).

Next in line are Tiago Mayan Gonçalves with 3.22% (134,427 votes) and Vitorino Silva with 2.94% (122,743 votes).
