2,436 new cases and 63 deaths by Covid-19 in Portugal

The number of people infected with coronavirus continues to increase and, in the last 24 hours, there have been 2,436 new cases.

There are 2,436 new cases of coronavirus compared to Monday bringing the total number of people infected with the disease to 376,220. 63 people have died in the last 24 hours, according to the latest official report of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).

Of the total number of people infected with the new coronavirus, most are undergoing treatment at home, with 3,095 inpatients, 508 of them in intensive care units. There are over 74,000 under the surveillance of the health authorities.

The North continues to be the region with the most new cases, having registered 1,047 in the last 24 hours. Lisbon and the Tagus Valley follow with 639. Regarding the number of deaths, the Lisbon region had the highest number on Tuesday (26), while the North reported 15.

Since it was detected in Portugal at the beginning of March, the coronavirus has caused the death of 6,254 people, 63 of them in the last 24 hours.
