The prime minister António Costa announced an easing of restrictions. It will be allowed to circulate between municipalities from December 23 to 26.

Movement between municipalities will be allowed from December 23 to 26, announced the prime minister António Costa this Saturday. In addition, there will be no limit of people in the household for the Christmas celebration.

On the nights of the 23rd and 24th, the normal movement ban will be maintained, with the exception of people who are in transit, who “can go to their destination without hurrying, serenely and without putting their lives at risk,” explained António Costa at a press conference.

On the nights of the 24th and 25th the ban on public roads will only occur from 2 am and on the night of the 26th, the ban on public roads will be re-established from 11 pm.

Regarding restaurant opening hours, it is possible to have lunch and dinner in all restaurants on the 24th and 25th. But dinners can only be served until one in the morning.

The prime minister stressed that he wants this Christmas “to be a time of sharing and gathering among families”, but warned that this is not a Christmas that can be lived “under normal circumstances”. “A very special care is needed.”
