802 new cases and three more deaths by Covid-19 in Portugal

The number of coronavirus infections in the country has increased to 70,465.

There are 802 new cases of coronavirus compared to Monday, bringing the total number of people infected with the disease to 70,465. Three people have died in the last 24 hours. The Lisbon and Tagus Valley region continues to concentrate the largest number of new infections, with 55% of the total.

Of the total number of infected, most are undergoing treatment at home, with only 571 inpatients, 77 of them in intensive care units. There are over 40,000 under the surveillance of the health authorities.

Since it was detected in Portugal at the beginning of March, the coronavirus has already caused the death of 1,928 people, three of them in the last 24 hours. The lethality rate is currently at 2.7%, rising to 14% for people over 70, the Health Minister said at Wednesday’s press conference. The number of recovered people is currently at 46,290.
