Golden visas fall 30% in August Y-o-Y to €57.6M

In August, the investment resulting from the granting of Residence Authorization for Investment was €57,694,424.11, which represents a drop of 30% compared to the same month in 2019 (€82.5 million).

The investment captured through golden visas fell 30% in August, compared to 12 months earlier, to €57.6 million, but rose 2.8% compared to July, according to accounts made by Lusa based on the statistics from the border and foreigners’ service (SEF).

In August, the investment resulting from the granting of Residence Authorization for Investment was €57,694,424.11, which represents a drop of 30% compared to the same month in 2019 (€82.5 million).

Compared to July (€56 million), the investment raised through golden visas rose 2.8%.

Last month 107 golden visas were granted, of which 97 through the acquisition of real estate (25 in the purchase for urban rehabilitation) and 10 through the capital transfer criterion.

The purchase of real estate totalled €50.1 million in August, of which €9 million corresponded to the acquisition for urban rehabilitation.

The capital transfer totalled €7.5 million, not having been, once again, attributed any visa through the creation of jobs.

Of the total golden visa concessions in August, 36 came from China, 12 from Brazil, 10 from Russia, eight from South Africa and seven from the United States.

In almost seven years – the ARI program was launched in October 2012 – the accumulated investment until last August totalled €5,488,957,942.38, with the acquisition of real estate amounting to €4,958,811,718.50.
