Number of Covid-19 cases increases 0.85%. Death toll at 1,175

The last DGS report counts 219 new cases of infection by the new coronavirus in 24 hours.

Portugal has registered 219 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. This is an increase of 0.8% over the previous day, with the total number of infected people rising to 28,132.

In the last 24 hours, 12 people have died from the disease, according to the latest update to the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate General of Health (DGS).

The data show that 709 people are hospitalized and 103 are subject to intensive care. The others, who represent the overwhelming majority of cases, are being monitored from their homes.

According to DGS information, 2,686 people are awaiting laboratory results and 26,278 citizens are subject to surveillance by the health authorities because they have been in contact with persons infected by Covid-19. Since January 1, 282,961 suspected cases have been detected.
