Number of Covid-19 cases increases 0.85%. Death toll at 1,163

The last DGS report counts 234 new cases of infection by the new coronavirus in 24 hours.

Portugal has registered 234 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. This is an increase of 0.85% over the previous day, with the total number of infected people rising to 27,913.

In the last 24 hours, 19 more people have died, raising the death toll from 1,144 to 1,163, according to the Directorate-General for Health (DGS). A total of 3,013 people have recovered from the disease since the outbreak in Portugal.

The data show that 709 people are hospitalized and 113 are subject to intensive care. The others, who represent the overwhelming majority of cases, are being monitored from their homes.

According to DGS, 2,719 people are awaiting laboratory results and 27,054 citizens are subject to surveillance by health authorities because they have been in contact with people infected by Covid-19. Since January 1, 279,933 suspected cases have been found and 249,301 cases have not been confirmed.
