Portugal has 2,995 cases of Covid-19. Number of deaths rises to 43

The number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Portugal rose to 2,995, while the number of coronavirus deaths rose to 43 by midnight.

Health authorities discovered 633 new cases of infection by the new coronavirus, increasing the number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Portugal from 2,362 to 2,995. The data collected up to midnight also show that 43 patients have died from the virus since the beginning of the pandemic. 22 people have recovered from the disease, a number that has not changed since the last data.

There are 276 people subject to hospitalization: 215 are in hospital and 61 are in intensive care units, according to the most recent information report by the Directorate General for Health (DGS).

According to official information, of the 2,995 confirmed cases, 1,517 are in the country’s north, with 20 fatalities, 992 in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, with 12 dead, 365 in the centre (ten deaths), 62 in the Algarve with one fatality and 12 in the Alentejo area. As regards the autonomous regions, there are 16 confirmed cases in Madeira and 17 in the Azores.
