Portugal with 194 new cases of Covid-19. There are 642 confirmed patients

Until last midnight, the Directorate General for Health found 194 new cases of infection by the new coronavirus in Portugal. The total number of confirmed cases rose from 448 to 642.

The Directorate General for Health (DGS) found 194 new cases of infection by the new coronavirus until last midnight, bringing the total number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 disease in Portugal from 448 to 642.

The bulletin shows that there are 289 cases in the North region, 74 cases in Centro, 243 cases in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, two cases in the Alentejo, 21 cases in the Algarve, three cases in the Azores, one case in Madeira and nine cases that were “exported” from abroad. Of the total number of “imported” cases, the majority were citizens who came from Spain (18), followed by Italy and France (13).

According to official information, 89 patients are hospitalized and 20 are in intensive care units, 30 infected citizens are over 80 years old, the main risk group, and another 49 patients are aged between 70 and 79 years.

In the 24-hour period under review, health authorities found five new coronavirus transmission chains, an increase from 19 to 24 active chains. This means that the origin of all cases could be traced by the authorities to 24 people, initially ‘responsible’ for the transmission of the virus by the others.
