Portugal has 117 new cases of Covid-19. Total rises to 448

The Directorate General for Health revealed that there are 117 new cases of infection by the new coronavirus in Portugal.

The Directorate General for Health (DGS) confirmed 117 new cases of infection by the new coronavirus in Portugal, this Tuesday. With this new balance, the total number of patients known to have Covid-19 increases from 331 to 448.

The data were revealed in the daily update of the epidemiological bulletin, which includes the official figures established until midnight. Meanwhile, this Tuesday, the President of the Regional Government of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque, confirmed the first case of Covid-19 infection in Madeira. This is a Dutch citizen who was staying in a hotel in Funchal and is awaiting the result of the counter analysis.

On Monday the first death by Covid-19 in Portugal was confirmed. The dead victim was an 80-year-old man who had been hospitalized for several days at Santa Maria Hospital and who had “several associated comorbidities”, in other words, was part of the group at risk, more vulnerable to the effects of the disease.
