BTL will be delayed until the end of May. In this year's edition, around 1,500 exhibitors and 67 international destinations were planned.

The Lisbon Tourism Trade Fair (BTL), which was scheduled to take place from March 11 to 15 at Parque das Nações, in Lisbon, will be postponed due to the coronavirus that has already infected eight people in Portugal, confirmed AIP.

AIP was meeting this morning to assess the situation. In the end, it decided to postpone the organization of the event. “The AIP Foundation, in coordination with the Government (Ministry of Economy) and the most relevant Associations in the Tourism Sector concluded that the conditions were no longer met to be able to ensure the realization of BTL 2020 on the dates originally planned,” said in a statement.

“In order to meet the wishes and needs of promoting the tourism sector, the AIP Foundation decided to postpone the BTL 2020 to May 27th-31st,” AIP added.

Despite the postponement, AIP says it is “confident that together we will be able to overcome the circumstances of the moment and we will be able to achieve, on the new dates now announced, an even more decisive BTL for the promotion and conduct of business in the tourism sector.”
