The average net monthly income of Portuguese dependent workers reached 911 euros in the second trimester of the year, according to the National Institute of Statistics.

The average net monthly income of Portuguese dependent workers reached 911 euros in the second trimester of the year, according to the National Institute of Statistics, which is the highest amount since 2011.

According to the National Institute of Statistics (INE), the average monthly net income was 816 euros in 2011. It has increased by 2.7%  relative to the same trimester of 2018 and 0.9% relative to the first trimester of 2019 to 911 euros.

However, more than half of the existing 4.1M existing employees in Portugal earn an average of less than 900 euros (2.3M employees), while 1.9M employees earn an average monthly net income between 600 and 900 euros.

Less than 70,000 employees earn more than 2,500 euros per month as the highest average net income salary of the country can be found in Lisbon (1,054 euros) and the lowest in Algarve (840euros). In Madeira, the average salary is 796 euros, while in the Azores it goes up to 801 euros.
