The projections for employability in Tourism and related-areas by Adecco anticipate an increase in job opportunities this summer. The demand for workers will be high across the country, more intensely in Lisbon, Porto and the Algarve, maintaining the tendency from previous years, where salaries will also be raised.

The increasing number of work contracts between employers and temporary workers is expected to be maintained, according to forecasts for this year.

“Specialised recruitment in hospitality, tourism and retail will be expressively increasing in the number of work contracts (…). There are a lot of companies making use of temporary workers to reinforce their workforce, not only due to the increased business volume but also because of the holiday’s taken by the permanent staff”, an Information consultant told ECO.

“The trend is to continue as there is an increasing concern with service quality. If companies are even more focused on providing good client service, it is important to make a priority to avoid providing minimum services while on holidays.”, Vânia Borges, Manager of Adecco’s Temporary Staffing and Permanent Placement in Portugal, said.

Vânia Borges reminds that “Portugal’s growing hype in tourism, real estate and new technologies, much of it explained by the impact of Web Summit, is making the job demand intense across all year, despite being more intense in summer”.
