The Portuguese and Spanish Football Associations are studying the possibility of a joint World Cup 2030 bid.

The Portuguese and Spanish Football Associations are studying the possibility of a joint World Cup 2030 bid. In the meantime, the countries are holding high-level meetings. In a statement to the press, the Portuguese Football Association has also assured that both the Portuguese and the Spanish Governments are being briefed on the matter.

Even if successful, Portugal and Spain will not be the only nations pursuing a joint bid to organise the 2030 World Cup. On the 4th of June, Mohamed Hattab, Algeria’s Sports Minister, confirmed to Aljazeera that his country is also studying a joint bid together with Morocco and Tunisia. In South-America, similar efforts are being carried out by Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay.
