The workers of the Lisbon Metro are planning a strike the morning of the 6th of November, the day the Web Summit starts.

The workers of the Lisbon Metro are planning a strike for the 6th of November, the morning the Web Summit starts, according to the Portuguese news channel, RTP. The strike will occur between 6:30 AM and 9:30 AM.

The Federation of Syndicates for Transports and Communications will deliver the pre-announcement soon, according to syndicalist Anabela Carvalheira. Workers are asking for an update of salaries and the recruitment of more workforce, and these motives were also behind this Thursday morning’s strike.

During the last editions of the Web Summit, the metro lines were reinforced to accommodate the high number of passengers. Last year, Lisbon Metro made available three different types of combined titles for participants of the event. Around 70 thousand people are expected to come.
