The Portuguese Military Criminal Police has recovered the material allegedly stolen from the Tancos Military base. It was scattered in the woods of a nearby village.

The military material (44 war weapons, grenades and explosives) has been recovered in the Chamusca region — 20 km away from Tancos, where it was stolen –, according to RTP. An anonymous call has been made this Wednesday, at dawn. An official source from the Military Criminal Police confirmed to ECO that the material was recovered.

The Portuguese news agency Lusa stated the Military Criminal Police seized the material stolen from the Tancos military base in the woods in Chamusca, Santarém district (a 20 km distance). According to Público, a military source stated the material has been almost fully found, except for “a few ammunition”.

The recovered material is now in the Santa Margarida military base to be stored and assessed by the Army. José Azeredo Lopes, Defense minister, has been called to Parliament by the Socialist Party to discuss the situation.
