Tekever to open fourth drone factory in the UK
The industrial unit will be Tekever's largest in the country and will create 1,000 skilled jobs. The opening is scheduled for 2026.
Portuguese unicorn Tekever is set to open a new drone production facility in the United Kingdom. The plant, which will create a thousand skilled jobs, is scheduled to open in 2026.
“In 2026, we will open our new drone factory in Swindon — a 254,000-square-metre facility, Tekever’s largest in the United Kingdom to date”, the unicorn announced in a LinkedIn post.
Tekever’s fourth facility in the UK will support the entire drone production cycle, from the prototype phase to production, as well as research and development. “It will bring the core production of the AR5 to the UK for the first time, while scaling up existing work on the AR3 platform”, the British Government said in a statement.
The factory, whose investment amount has not been disclosed, is Tekever’s latest venture in this market, following the purchase in July of West Wales Airport to form a hub for testing and evaluating unmanned systems.
In May, Tekever announced a five-year investment of €470 million in the UK. Since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the British government has purchased around £270 million worth of drones from the company.
