Portugal has the second highest GDP growth in Eurozone
In the third quarter, Portugal was the second member state with the highest growth in the Eurozone, only behind Cyprus.
Portugal was the second member state with the highest growth (4.9%) in the Eurozone in the third quarter, only surpassed by Cyprus (5.4%), according to a report published by Eurostat on Tuesday.
As for the Eurozone in the third quarter, it registered a 2.1% growth compared with the same period last year, showing a deceleration of the economy in the single currency area concerning the previous quarter, when it grew 4.3%.
In comparative terms, between July and September, GDP in the United States maintained the same rate of increase (1.8%). Quarter-on-quarter, the US economy grew by 0.6%, while the EU increased by 0.2%.
The statistical office of the European Union has also published data regarding the employment rate: “Compared with the same quarter of the previous year, employment increased by 1.7% in the euro area [Eurozone] and by 1.5% in the EU in the third quarter of 2022, after +2.7% in the euro area [Eurozone] and +2.4% in the EU in the second quarter of 2022.”
