Retail sales rose 15.9% in February YoY, third highest rise in EU
Portugal recorded the third largest rise among member states (15.9%), according to Eurostat.
Retail sales rose 5% in the eurozone and 5.4% in the European Union (EU) in February, year-on-year, with Portugal recording the third largest rise among member states (15.9%), Eurostat announced on Thursday.
According to data from the European statistical service, compared to January, the volume of turnover in retail trade, increased by 0.3% in the eurozone and the EU, with Portugal also showing the third largest increase (2.3%).
Compared to February 2021, the largest increases in retail sales were recorded in Slovenia (21.7%), Slovakia (16.5%) and Portugal (15.9%), while the main decreases were observed in Austria (-5.9%), Belgium (-5.1%), Cyprus and Finland (-2% each).
In quarter-on-quarter terms, the largest increases were in Slovenia (8%), the Netherlands (4%) and Portugal (2.3%) and the largest falls were in Belgium (-1.8%), Estonia (-1.7%) and Poland (-1.6%).
