So far, 30 million Covid tests have been conducted in Portugal
Over 30 million diagnostic tests have been done since the beginning of the pandemic, with over three million more to be done by 2022.
Between January 1 and 14, “nearly 3.3 million Covid-19 diagnostic tests were performed,” the testing task force announced Tuesday morning. On day 14, the country surpassed the threshold of 30 million tests done “since the beginning of the pandemic”, not counting self-tests.
In addition to this milestone, the task force stresses that “in just four days”, between January 11 and 14, “the country again surpassed the mark of one million tests”. The daily average until the 14th was 233,000 diagnostic tests.
These numbers come at a time when the Omicron variant continues to gain ground around the world, bringing Portugal close to historic highs in new daily cases.
Of the 30 million tests already done in Portugal, about 17.7 million were PCR tests and nearly 12.4 million were rapid antigen tests for professional use.
