TAP carried until November as many passengers as in the total of 2018
The national airline had the "best November ever", after having carried 1.25 million passengers. Until last month, it had already surpassed the total of 2018.
Was the “best month of November ever”, says TAP, after having transported 1.25 million people, an increase of 11.5% compared to the same month last year. The result is so positive that the airline really says that, in the year to date, it has transported as many people as in the whole of last year. The highlight is the 53% growth in North American routes.
There were 129,000 more passengers carried than in November last year, in a rate of occupancy of flights that increased 2.1 percentage points in the space of a year to 76.4%, said TAP in a statement sent this Friday. In the accumulated of the year, this rate is at 80.5%.
Between January and November, the number of people transported totalled 15.8 million, an increase of 7.7% over the same period last year (plus 1.1 million). This shows that the company was able, by the end of November, “to carry the same number of passengers as in the whole of 2018, with the month of December still to be counted, which is, along with August, one of the months with the highest demand throughout the year”.
TAP grew in all the network segments in which it operates (mainland Portugal, Islands, Europe, North America, Venezuela, Brazil and Africa), the statement said. The highlights are the 53% growth in North American routes, the continued recovery in Brazil and the absolute growth of more than 63 thousand passengers on European routes, excluding Portugal.
TAP’s Portugal Stopover programme, through which thousands of tourists continue to discover Portugal before continuing their journey to their final destinations, also continues to contribute, among other factors, to this sustained growth in the number of passengers transported.
