Farfetch will hire 150 people for its Braga office
The startup unicorn, Farfetch, run by João Neves, is currently hiring for their Braga offices. It is the fourth space that Farfetch opens in Portugal.
Opening the door to Braga’s new Farfetch offices, you find yourself surrounded by a decor that resembles greatly an amusement park. Guests are taken to the terrace before the inauguration party, with a setting that appeals to both kids and grown-ups. They have also announced openings to hire around 150 people to integrate their branch office in Braga.
Farfetch’s offices in Braga are quite glamorous, and count with 2.800 square meters in total, with an outside area of around one thousand square meters. There is a kart track, trampolins, and a ping-pong table. All of this has been designed to satisfy the workers and to promote companionship between the 150 people that will become part of the company by the end of the year.
The unicorn’s new technology center is the 13th office Farfetch has opened so far, and it has been rated 3rd best in their field. At the new office, there are at the moment 25 people working, while there is an ongoing recruitment process.
Farfetch’s CTO, Cipriano Sousa, considers the office in Braga is equivalent to its siblings in Porto and Lisbon, in terms of technological performance. Two months ago, a new storage unit was also opened in Guimarães, with Braga being the 4th space opened by the startup in Portugal.
Regarding the choice for Braga, Cipriano Sousa explained that “the region is becoming an entrepreneurial hub, with many tech companies moving here. Also, it has been over the last few years a very well known incubator for talent in tech.”
“It is a clear sign that the company is continuously betting in Portugal”, the CTO explained. “We have many teams that have an opportunity here, as after their experience they can aim at an international career within the company, following the global mindset we engraved in Farfetch’s DNA,” he added.
Cipriano Sousa is working at Farfetch since its very beginning, 10 years ago. He justifies the company’s astonishing growth with data. There are over two million clients from 190 countries, strong partnerships with 50 countries and around 3000 employees worldwide make the company a success.
Farfetch is currently hiring 2 employees a day, in Lisbon and Porto. Being on the lookout for talent requires a lot of permanent attention accompanied by technological input, the CTO explains.
Ricardo Rio, Braga’s Mayor, attended the inauguration event, as well as InvestBraga’s president, Carlos Oliveira. The latter noted how “having a company like Farfetch in Braga can stimulate the local economy, and boost growth”.
The office in Braga isn’t yet at full speed, it still needs to hire the remaining staff, as at the moment, it feels quite empty.
There is a Star Wars themed room, many colorful meeting rooms, and informal meeting spaces in the building that are created to motivate their workers.
Respecting individuality was important in Braga’s office, with each room having its own identity.
