Schäuble: “See to it that you don’t need a new programme”

Germany’s warnings to Portugal have returned. And once again, from the Finance minister, Wolfgang Schäuble: “My warning to Portugal is: see to it that you don’t need a new program”.
This Wednesday, as quoted by Bloomberg, Schäuble stated that the aid programmes have helped several Euro Area countries — including Portugal — to return to economic growth and to achieve more solid public finances, which proves that the pressure of aid programs “worked well”.
The Finance minister’s comments were made during a press conference in Berlin after the presentation of the German State Budget, when asked about the Euro Area and the austerity programmes that took place in several Euro Area countries over the past few years.
