Rents up 2.7% in July

In July, "all regions showed positive year-on-year changes in housing rents, with Lisbon and the Algarve registering the highest increases, according to INE.

The rents of houses per square meter increased 2.7%, in July, compared to the same month of 2021, maintaining the value recorded in June and with all the regions to present year-on-year increases, Statistics Portugal (INE) said on Wednesday.

According to the INE, in July, “all regions showed positive year-on-year changes in housing rents, with Lisbon and the Algarve registering the highest increases (3.0% and 2.7%, respectively)”.

The average value of rentals per square metre registered a monthly increase of 0.3%, up from 0.2% in the previous month.

The regions with the highest positive monthly variation were Lisbon, the Azores and the Alentejo, all with rates of 0.3%, with no region having seen a negative variation in the respective average value of rental accommodation.
