Mainland to stay in state of alert until end of November

Mainland Portugal will remain on alert due to the Covid-19 pandemic until 30 November, the government announced on Thursday.

Mainland Portugal has been in an alert situation since October 1, which ended on Sunday.

The alert situation is the lowest level of response to disaster situations provided for in the Basic Law of Civil Protection.

The Covid-19 pandemic has killed at least 4,969,926 people worldwide since the end of December 2019, according to an assessment carried out by the French news agency AFP based on official sources.

In total, 244,943,060 cases of infection have been officially diagnosed since the start of the pandemic.

In Portugal, since March 2020, 18,144 people have died, and there have been 1,087,245 cases of infection, according to data from the Directorate-General of Health.
