Last 24 hours sees 1,231 new cases, six deaths from Covid-19

The 1,231 new infections were mostly diagnosed in the North region (440) and in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region (328).

Portugal has recorded 1,231 new infections with the Covid-19 virus and six deaths attributed to the disease in the last 24 hours, and the number of people hospitalised has fallen, according to official data on Tuesday.

There are 650 people in hospitals infected with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, 32 fewer than on Monday, 135 of them in intensive care units, five fewer in the last 24 hours, according to the bulletin of the country’s national health authority, the DGS, that publishes the daily situation of the evolution of the Covid-19 pandemic in Portugal.

The 1,231 new infections were mostly diagnosed in the North region (440) and in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region (328).

The six deaths attributed to the disease occurred in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley (three), North (one), Centre (one), and Alentejo (one) regions.

Regarding the age of the fatal victims, four were over 80 years old, one between 70 and 79 years old and another between 60 and 69 years old.
