Last 24 hours see 1,782 new cases, eight deaths, hospitalisations up

Most infections are again recorded in the region of Lisbon and Tagus Valley, with 864 new cases, representing 48% of the country's total.

Portugal on Monday recorded 1,782 new cases of infection by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, eight deaths attributed to Covid-19 and a new increase in patients hospitalised and in intensive care, according to data from the country’s national health authority, the DGS.

According to the epidemiological bulletin of the DGS on Monday, most infections are again recorded in the region of Lisbon and Tagus Valley, with 864 new cases, representing 48% of the country’s total, which on Monday exceeded the 909,756 accumulated cases.

The data indicates that eight more deaths have been registered with an increase in the number of people hospitalised.

Another 57 people are hospitalised in a total of 729, and there are 10 more patients in intensive care units, in a total of 163 patients.
