Attractiveness, talent, culture and cost profile were the main factors that led the company to choose Lisbon to install Amgen's new centre.

Amgen has just announced the creation of around 300 highly qualified jobs in Portugal over the next two years, thanks to the opening of a new global centre in Lisbon, called Amgen Capability Centre Portugal.

“Lisbon was a consensual choice to install this Capability Centre, mainly due to the availability of qualified local talent, the attractiveness of international talent, a favourable culture and a suitable cost profile,” said Daniel Campanha, executive director and site head of Amgen Capability Centre Portugal, in a statement.

This new centre in Portugal reaffirms “our competitiveness, our highly qualified team, solid infrastructure and our strategic location,” says Eurico Brilhante Dias, Secretary of State for Internationalisation. “Portugal is an economic centre with a favourable business environment and an attractive culture and climate,” he continues.

A pioneer in biotechnology, Amgen operates in approximately 100 countries and has over 20,000 employees. Since 1993, the company has a branch office in Portugal, currently with 40 employees.
